Your contribution to our mission
To succeed in our mission, we require effortless interaction between technology and people. As data engineer/scientist you are responsible to bring our real-time data pipeline to the next level and make it ready for scale. The new home is not only heated sustainable but the home owner also knows exactly when and how much energy is used by which appliance. Furthermore, DeWarmte team will require analysed data in order to improve the performance of the HeatCycle and many products to come. It is your responsibility to translate an ocean of sorted data to direct actionable information.
The skills we are looking for
In the possession of a computer science Bachelor/Master degree.
Experienced in creating data pipelines. Sending data, compressing data, storing data, aggregating data, retrieving data. In all steps choices need to be made considering cost, quality and speed. You are comfortable making those choices and able to asses both the short term as the long term impact of these choices.
Proficiency in English is a hard requirement for this role.
Experience with leading a development team. We use GitHub for version control. You are free in using other software or processes but you will take the lead in outsourcing projects related to our data pipeline and database.
The ability to define the scope of work independently and to stay motivated when working alone is essential.
You know how to prioritize We are a small team, looking to expand with people who know what to do when.
You are reliable and structured. A startup environment is chaotic and fast-paced, structure is essential to build the processes required for the scale-up phase.
Flexibility is key. You like handling different things and are not afraid to pick up a varying workload. A turbulent environment gives you energy.
We own our mistakes and learn from them. You are comfortable in bearing the responsibility to share failures and move on.
Preferably a woman. Of course we look at skills first, we are not sexist in hiring. However, to keep our team diverse we prefer to hire a talented woman.
Your day to day responsibilities
You will bear the responsibility for updating our data pipeline making it ready to handle real-time influx from thousands of IoT devices in the field. The data is used by different types of users and you should define the best alert system, dashboarding solution and automated actions for each used. All this should be done while keeping the cost per device to a minimum and the scalability to a maximum. This data strategy will be defined primarily by you.
